How to add pictures/images/photos

This all seems a lot to just add a picture, but I have described it all in great detail assuming you know nothing. Some of you won't need to read any of this. But here it is anyway!

• The picture you want to upload must be on your computer. So if it's on the internet, download to your computer.
• Big pictures can be a bit of problem, so smaller is better.
• It must not be any larger than 2MB.
• It should be a JPG.

1. On the left of the page you will see "Upload file." Click on that.
2. You will go to an upload page - find the box that says "Source filename." To the right is a "Browse" button. Click on the Browse Button and find your image. I usually try to leave mine on the Desktop or in Photos, so I know where they are!
3. A little pic of your chosen image should appear on the right
4. Further down the page you will find "Destination Filename." And if it's filled with a lot of numbers, it's worth changing those to a proper title (so you can always find your picture). For example change it to "Godzilla and Teddy.jpg" instead of DC00866.jpg. You MUST keep the jpg or JPG bit on the end, with a dot before it.
5. Click on the Upload File box at the bottom of the page.

You are nearly there!

1. Now you will have a page with your picture and your new title will be at the top. That is very important and what you want to use. Write down the title (ie File:Godzilla and Teddy.jpg) exactly as you see it. Nb It will always start with File:
2. Now go to the page you want to add the picture to and go to Edit.
3. Like everything on a Wiki, you are now going to add your picture as a link. So simply put double square brackets around the title ie [[File:Godzilla and Teddy.jpg]] and put it into your text.
4. You can make it bigger or smaller by adding a vertical line (called a pipe) after the title and then adding a number (300 - 600 usually works) and px. For example [[File:Godzilla and Teddy.jpg|300px]]
5. You can move it to the left, right or center (US spelling) by adding another vertical line and then adding left or center or right. For example [[File:Godzilla and Teddy.jpg|300px|right]]
6. And finally you can add a Title which will appear if anyone clicks on the picture directly, again separated by a vertical line and then a space...so the finished link could look like this... [[File:Godzilla and Teddy.jpg|300px|right| Godzilla and Teddy]]

And now you have a lovely picture in your text. If you don't, then message me (don't clog up ULC with these problems).
