Yes, I agree... I had a birthing plan, didn't really want or need one - having never given birth before I had no pre-conception of what to expect or what I wanted --- except a healthy little baby at the end.

We started our birthing plans in an ante natal class, one lady wrote pages and pages, even to the point of stipulating what sound track she wanted playing as the baby entered the world! I wonder if it happened as she wanted????

One thing I was hoping for was a water birth, but when we arrived in the hospital the baby's heart rate was erratic so I had to go on a monitor which meant the water birth wasn't an option.

I would suggest having an idea of what you want and who you want to be there, but don't stress about it, be prepared to change and adapt as the labour starts and progresses. Mums to be have said they want to experience a drug free birth and then resorted to having every drug offered!

No two labours or births are the same, the most important part for me was to enjoy it, afterall it maybe the only time I'll experience xx
